Reflection Psychology’s five clinics and comprehensive team of psychologists with a broad range of specialties mean we can schedule appointments at times that suit our clients, with minimal waiting.
We provide you the convenience of claiming private health insurance benefits via HICAPS, on the spot at our practices. Here we answer some of the more common queries from our clients.
You may be eligible to claim psychological services from your Private Health insurer depending on your level of cover. To claim a rebate you need to ensure that you are covered by ancillary benefits insurance (extras).
The rebate you will receive will be based on your level of cover. It is advised that you contact your insurer to confirm your eligibility.
At Reflection Psychology we offer a HICAPS service (Health Industry Claims and Payments Service) which means that after your psychology session, your health fund card is simply swiped through the HICAPS terminal and your claim is automatically processed.
All private health insurance claims depend on your insurance coverage. If you have family cover your child is probably eligible.
If you use the HICAPS service, you do not need to pay the full consultation fee up-front and wait for the reimbursement (unlike if you choose to take your account to your health fund branch). Once your claim is authorised by your health fund through the HICAPS terminal, you simply pay the gap amount, which is the difference between the full psychology session fee and the rebate your health insurer covers.
You may use cash, cheque, EFTPOS or credit accounts.
You could possibly be using an old health insurance card, or alternatively your health fund may not be linked with HICAPS. It is advised that you contact your insurer.
You cannot use your private health insurance cover to top up the Medicare rebates for psychological services. If you are eligible for Medicare rebates then you need to decide which service you will use to cover the payment for psychological services you receive.

You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for your visits to Reflection Psychology or able to claim from private health insurance, depending on your policy cover.
We have psychology clinics in five prominent locations – Melbourne CBD, Camberwell, McKinnon and Fairfield – as well as flexible opening hours, and we’re open six days a week.
Reflection Psychology comprises a team of registered and highly qualified psychologists, including some of the nation’s leading therapists in their fields.
