Hugh McGovern
Registered Psychologist
Hugh is a general registered psychologist with clinical experience across multiple settings, including in hospitals, schools, private clinics, and occupational settings. He has experience with a diverse range of clients and their challenges, from young people with learning-based difficulties, people having relationship difficulties, those struggling with trauma or violence, and with people involved in the justice system. He now works primarily with adults. Hugh fosters a responsive and non-judgemental environment where clients can feel like their concerns are heard and their perspective is valued.
Hugh adopts a broadly psychodynamic lens, but uses a range of evidence-based in his practice, which include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Motivational Interviewing, and DBT-informed interventions.
