Shantal Lourie (Shanty) is a qualified Counselling Psychologist with extensive experience working with a range of individuals including children, adolescents and adults. Shanty is skilled in delivering many evidence-based psychological approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as Positive Psychology techniques.

Shanty values the importance of providing genuine and specific care for each client and is skilled in carefully considering clients’ needs, resources and current well being and tailoring evidence-based interventions to support each individual.

Shanty believes that a strong working alliance between the client and counsellor is pivotal for creating successful and meaningful therapeutic outcomes. As such, Shanty prioritises building rapport and working in partnership with each client to ensure that counselling progresses at a comfortable and suitable pace that facilitates ongoing growth and enhanced well being.

Shanty is passionate about creating a positive and safe space that supports clients to work through their concerns and is known for her approachable, caring, relatable and encouraging nature.
