Carley McGauran

Psychologist

Carley has over 15 years’ experience as a psychologist in the community and private sector. Carley works with both children and adults as well as families.

Carley’s experience also includes providing training/psycho-education to organisations on a variety of topics.

Carley has developed a unique, empathetic and holistic approach to individual therapy. She works comfortably within an eclectic mix of therapeutic modalities – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, Mindfulness, Psycho-education and Narrative Therapy to provide a framework to suit each individual client’s needs. She respects the collaborative roles of the client and therapist, assisting her clients through both discussion and a variety of practical strategies.

Carley’s personable and evidence based approach assists clients to explore and better understand “what makes them tick” and then with this knowledge they are empowered to make choices which can enrich their life experiences. Carley believes that counselling will help guide you on your ‘personal growth’ journey and help you understand that the experiences that you’ve faced are your personal life learnings. In addition it will encourage you to appreciate that any ‘unhealthy’ strategies you may have utilised to cope deserve to be managed in a respectful manner as they have allowed you to survive.

Carley’s clients describe her as caring and genuine, yet also challenging enough to foster the personal growth that they desire.
