Tom O’Keefe
General Psychologist
Tom is a registered psychologist with AHPRA and has experience across both private practice and community-based settings. He became a psychologist due to a strong passion for assisting others in their self-empowerment and happiness after his own experiences in mental healthcare throughout his early years.
Tom welcomes the opportunity to support individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and mental health presentations. He has a range of interest areas and particularly enjoys working with the neurodivergent community, including ADHD and ASD.
His practice is guided by a person-centric and strength-based approach, ensuring that each client’s unique needs and goals remain the focus of their care. Tom also believes that many difficulties can stem from deeper meanings and that a holistic approach to understanding ourselves often provides the changes we may seek.
Tom strives to respect and deliver therapy to all clients regardless of cultural, socioeconomic, LGBTQIA+, and identity backgrounds. His practice is rooted in inclusivity, respect, mutual trust, and a judgment-free approach, fostering a safe and supportive environment for all clients. He utilises evidence-based methods tailored to each client’s unique needs and is committed to continually advancing his skills and expertise to provide the highest standard of care.
Tom is trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, attachment theory, psychodynamic, mindfulness, and play therapy. Additionally, he has further training in trauma-informed and culturally responsive care, as well as psychodynamic therapy, emotionally focused therapy, and Gottman (Level 1).
He is also experienced in administering and interpreting a wide range of psychometric assessments, including cognitive/IQ, memory, personality, ADHD, ASD, mood, functional, behavioural, and career assessments.
